20 Free Printable Gingerbread Coloring Pages
Twenty gingerbread coloring pages: men, houses, whole villages. Icing patterns and candy trim mean lots of small enclosed shapes, which makes these satisfying to color slowly.
Gingerbread is the one Christmas subject where the decoration is the drawing. Icing lines, gumdrop buttons, candy trim and roof tiles are all small enclosed shapes, which is why these pages hold attention longer than most. Twenty designs run from a single man (1) through a decorated house (5) to a three house village with a path between them (10).
Ways to use these gingerbread coloring pages
- Color it, then bake it. The finished page works as a plan. Children who have coloured the house first are noticeably more patient about waiting for real dough to cool.
- Use the cutters design as a label. Design 13 is a rolling pin with two cookie cutters. It prints well as a recipe card header or a jar label.
- Icing patterns reward slow colouring. The swirls design (19) is the most detailed in the set. Give it to whoever in the family wants something to work on rather than finish.
Every design downloads as a US Letter PDF that also scales cleanly to A4 with “Fit to printable area”. Print in grayscale, there is no color in the files. Ordinary copier paper is fine for crayons and pencils; use cardstock or slip a spare sheet underneath for markers. Free to print at home, in a classroom or in a library, see the license.
Frequently asked questions
Are the houses or the men easier?
The men. Design 1, 12 and 4 are single figures with a few icing lines. The houses have roof tiles and candy trim, which means more small areas to work around.
Is there anything for a very young child?
Design 1 and 9, the plain man and the heart cookie. Both are one large shape with simple edging.
Can these be used as templates for real cookies?
Loosely. The shapes are simple enough to cut around, though they are drawn for colouring rather than as accurate cutter outlines.
